My oil/mixed media paintings reflect my involvement with the process of making art. I am not concerned with rendering what I see, but am challenged to express my response to selected images.
Specifically, Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains provide inspiration. For several years, I have worked to transform this rural landscape into images that satisfy my fascination with the subtle pairing of linear and organic elements.
My working method is predominately intuitive. On site I make sketches. In the studio these personal notes provide a springboard. Often the finished piece becomes a composite of visual memories or a sequencing of views. Sometimes I chose to work within a series format which enables me to develop my initial response.
